Neighbors sharing with neighbors has been the overriding theme of Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh’s annual Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive over the past 13 years. Since 2000 the Museum has collected over 28,000 sweaters from individuals & families to share with families-in-need throughout southwestern Pennsylvania “neighborhood”.
Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh’s 2012 Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive is again presented in collaboration with the United Way of Allegheny County, the Presbyterian Churches of the Tri State Area.
The public can drop off new and/or gently used adult and children sweaters to help warm up the winter for a family in need in the Museum's lobby from November 15 through December 16, 2012.
Sweaters collected will be distributed to families and children through local United Way of Allegheny County nonprofit agencies, Tri State Area neighborhood Presbyterian Church USA missions and, this year a portion of the sweaters collected will be distributed to families and children in the New York City and New Jersey areas recovering from Hurricane Sandy.
