Library Fundraiser
Some of you often use the Lawrenceville Library and know there is a chance that the doors may be closed permanently. :( You may want to check out the special event happening this Saturday....
When funding shortages threatened the closure of neighborhood libraries, Oliver Stephany, age 6, of Lawrenceville, came up with a solution. “Why don’t we just give everyone keys to the library, and then it can always be open?” he suggested to his dad. Unfortunately, it’s not that simple, but Oliver’s idea led to a fabulous children-run fundraiser. This Saturday, January 23rd, from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the Lawrenceville Library, Oliver will be selling hot chocolate and decorating symbolic keys to the library in exchange for donations. Joining him are his brother Oliver, age 3, and friends Oliver Moore, age 6, and Olivia Rautio, age 12. Lindsey Woge, of Fresh Heirlooms on Butler Street, is donating materials for decorating the keys and will man the craft table along with local artist Martha Ressler and volunteers from Give Girls Tools. After the fundraiser, stick around for Lawrenceville Library’s Winter Wonderland Family Fun, celebrating the season of winter with stories, games, crafts and more. The Lawrenceville branch of the Carnegie Library is located at 279 Fisk Street. For more information, please contact 412-682-3668.
