Happy Mom's Day!

Mother’s Day 2010 in Pittsburgh

There are loads of great things to do in Pittsburgh for Mother’s Day 2010…and so many ways to enjoy the day without breaking the bank! Here are some of Living Pittsburgh’s affordable highlights for Mother’s Day in the ‘Burgh this weekend:

Like FREE days? So do we…and Moms get a few this weekend!

Free Day for Moms at Clayton (and Frick is free as always!)

Here are some other low cost ways to enjoy the day with mom in Pittsburgh:

Shop the Pittsburgh Flea in the Strip District and let the special lady pick out a unique (yet affordable) gift. Before or after your flea shopping spree, grab a cheap brunch at one of the neighborhood diners.

Head to Oakland and enjoy a couple free things to do this Sunday! It’s Kids Day at Schenley Plaza (2-5pm) and Carnegie Library’s Sunday Afternoon Music Series. Grab a discounted meal at India Garden or Joe Mama’s when you’re done.

Bring your mom to the Pittsburgh Playhouse during Mother’s Day Weekend (May 7-9) and she’ll receive a free ticket to Seussical or The Dark Side of Zylo’s Moon. One free ticket will be given to every mom who is with someone paying admission.

If you’d like to beat the crowds and celebrate the big day with mom on Saturday, check this one out. It’s pay-what-you-can day with Dance Alloy Theater…what a deal! Catch the afternoon performance of Alloy Unlocked…Part II. YOU name the price!

Since Mother’s Day is on a Sunday, you can use your Giant Eagle Advantage card to get $10 off tickets to this weeks home Pirate game against the St. Louis Cardinals. They’ll also be giving away a jersey strap bag to moms and kids under 14!

Do you happen to have a hip mom who loves off the beaten path adventures? Try Living Pittsburgh’s affordable Adventure Blueprint for a whole Sunday in Lawrenceville.

Now here’s a really great way to spend the day with your mom if she likes wine. Take her out to La Casa Narcisi in Gibsonia for free wine tasting and a picnic lunch on the beautiful grounds. Sip some wine, tell her how wonderful she is, listen to live music, and enjoy a hand picked affordable meal (just remember to pack some of her favorites!) This great day will only cost you the price of your packed lunch and a bottle of wine…and many are very affordable.

Whatever you do.............hope it's special and that you give an extra hug to the little (or big) ones that allow us the privilege to be called Mothers.
