Blue Ribbon Farms: Little Farmer Camp Giveaway

Whether we can believe it or not, winter will soon be fading in the background and summer will be upon us once again. (YAY!) Like me, you may already be thinking about what activities and camps you may want your children to be involved in this summer. I was recently contacted by Blue Ribbon Farms about their Day Camps + Birthday Parties and I think they're a fantastic summer option! I love camps and birthday that are outdoor and provide hands on experiences. Read on to find out more!

Another birthday party option they offer is bringing a Bunny Party to you!

Little Farmers Day Camp is an experience that your child will never forget. Let your child be entertained, educated and amazed by the everyday wonders of the farm. They will love the hands on interaction with the animals.

Experience Farm Life
Your child will experience bottle feeding a new born calf, riding a pony, holding and petting a bunny.  They will also get to feed and care for lambs, goats, ducks, chickens and baby pigs.

Another great life skill they will try is learning to care for and cultivate an expansive garden.  Collecting eggs, preparing dishes made from goods grown on the farm.

However, this farm life camp is not all work!  Crafts, games and nature walks will also help round out the day of work, play, exercise and learning.

Camps may fill, so go here to register your child for a camp week listed below! Camps are open for ages 4-13.

Ticket Giveaway: Circo Comedia

We love going to unique shows as a family and Circo Comedia looks like a great one! I'm pretty sure it's going to pull lots of laughs out of my kids and they're going to love seeing these fun stunts.
The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is proud to present Circo Comedia as part of Citizens Bank Children’s Theater Series. Performances take place March 5 through 12, 2017 at six performance locations throughout the area.
Unpredictable thrills, side-splitting comedy and daredevil stunts are the signature style of Circo Comedia starring the fantastic duo Jean Saucier & Patrick Cote from Montreal as they perform their distinctive style of humor, acrobatic tricks, daring feats, magic and eccentricity. Following in the tradition of the Quebec Circus, Jean Saucier, master equilibrist, juggler, trick cyclist, acrobat and magician performs his feats from dizzying heights while Patrick Cote, clown, expert roller skater and drummer, innocently tries his best to be the (imperfect) assistant. Delirously funny. Filled with unforgettable moments.

Circo Comedia stars duo Jean Saucier and Patrick C么t茅. Montreal natives, Saucier and C么t茅 perform acrobatic tricks and daring feats topped with their humor and eccentricity. Saucier, an equilibrist, juggler, trick cyclist, acrobat and magician, performs from great heights while C么t茅, a clown, expert roller skater and drummer, acts as his somewhat imperfect assistant. The show follows the tradition of the Quebec Circus. Standard Free Holder, raved, “Their fast paced entertaining show was an adventure for all ages. Stunts and tricks were enjoyed by the sell-out crowd who found it hard not to laugh, as the talented duo reached out to involve the audience in their routines.”
Jean Saucier has been performing since a young age. At 18, he attended the 脡cole National du Cirque de Montr茅al.  He was later hired by Cirque du Soleil. From 1999-2006, Saucier performed with his first Circo Comedia partner, Lawrence Smythe. In 2004, Saucier began performing Circo Comedia with current partner Patrick C么t茅.
Patrick C么t茅 also trained at 脡cole National due Cirque du Montr茅al. Since the late 1980s, C么t茅 has been creating comedic characters and performances for an array of audiences. He joined Saucier in Circo Comedia in 2004.   For more information, visit

Believing is just the beginning when dreamers around the country witness the empowering tales of Disney’s most courageous leading ladies told through artistic skating and acrobatics in Disney On Ice presents Dream Big. Audiences are invited to join eight Disney Princesses – Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Tiana, Jasmine, Aurora and Snow White – as they embark on incredible adventures, determined to make their dreams come true. In addition, experience the sisterly love that has captivated millions as Disney’s Frozen is brought to life on the icy stage.

Enter a world where adventure awaits and courage leads the way, as Tinker Bell guides guests to a place where imaginations soar and anything can happen. Make a splash with the fearless dreamer Ariel as she yearns to explore life above the waves. Watch Rapunzel, Cinderella and Belle as they learn about the power to make their own magic. Travel to the wintry world of Arendelle with sisters Anna and Elsa and the hilarious Olaf from Disney’s Frozen as they learn that true love is the greatest magic of all. Be there to discover a whole new world with the daring Jasmine, and join Snow White, Aurora and Tiana as they remind you that strength and kindness go hand-in-hand.

“Before dreaming up this show, we reflected on what makes Disney’s leading ladies so unique,” said Producer Kenneth Feld. “Having three daughters, it didn’t take long to realize that every princess had one thing in common: each one had a dream and the determination to make it a reality. We wanted to share that inspirational message with our audiences by celebrating the stories of these courageous young women and the friends that helped them along the way.”

Guests will also enjoy a special second act including royal sisters Anna and Elsa from the number one animated feature film of all time, Disney’s Frozen. Audiences will enter the land of Arendelle and journey up the North Mountain with Olaf and rugged mountain-man Kristoff as they help the sisters discover true love can conquer all. “Being able to include these new and exciting characters from the Academy Award®-winning tale, Frozen, keeps our shows current and ever evolving,” adds Feld.
Adapting the inspirational moments to the ice presented an interesting challenge to the creative team. To cause audiences to re-experience the emotions evoked by the films would
take glittering sets, dramatic lighting, breathtaking choreography and a few surprises.

STEM events for girls

It is the year 2017, but the gender gap still exists in STEM fields. Although women are significantly outnumbered by men in STEM fields there are many programs and advocacy groups working hard to encourage women of all ages to engage in STEM! The Society of Women Engineers (SWE), is the world’s largest advocate for women in engineering and technology, and supporter for kids interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

SWE is hosting a local conference for women engineers in Pittsburgh, WE Local, Feb. 17-19. Part of the conference is a special event for girls in grades 6-12.

SWENext DesignLab Pittsburgh 2017
When: Saturday, February 18, 2017
Where: Omni William Penn Hotel; Pittsburgh, PA
Time: 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Check-in opens at 1:30)

The girls will:

  • Work with local SWE members on hands-on engineering activities
  • Meet real engineers and learn what they do
  • Make new friends
  • Get a SWE t-shirt, bag and lots of other goodies
  • Be eligible to win raffle prizes

SWENext Design Lab Pittsburgh is an outreach event for middle schoolers who want to experience the creative and innovative facets of engineering. At SWENext Design Lab Pittsburgh, middle schoolers will participate in hands-on engineering activities led by women engineers and learn what it’s like to be an engineer. There will also be a special event for parents and educators to learn more about engaging children in STEM, exposing them to engineering and guiding them along the path to becoming an engineer. Programs like SWENext Design Lab Pittsburgh are crucial in the effort to encourage more young women to pursue STEM and to ultimately close the gender gap in technical fields.

Exciting opportunities are ahead for girls and women in this field! Go here for more information about this event and check out (and share!) the event flyer here.

The cost to attend is $7. Financial assistance is available upon request.

SWENext is a group within SWE for girls k-12. Go to for more information about SWENext.

This post is sponsored by SWENext and I loved collaborating with them for this great event!
