Opens at The Children's Museum of Pittsburgh this weekend!

A showcase of original hands-on exhibits created from seven years of the Children’s Museum’s Tough Art program and other programs. Highlights include:
  • Giant, a 10-foot wooden man you can move with levers, by David Butts (2008)
  • The Beast, a large wooden cow that "eats" rubber balls, by Nova Jiang (2010)

  • Step into the swirling air of the Whirlwind Room (2010) Created for the Whoosh! exhibit
  • Kaleidoscope, a giant version of this classic toy created from a rotating table, video projector and materials you add, by Christina Zaris (2011)
  • Ferrous Wheel, a spinnable wheel that translates shapes to tones, by Matt Mets (2009)
  • Silly Faces 2.0, a video capture system that displays a dynamic palette of visitors' 5-second facial expressions, by Amanda Long (2010, updated 2013)

nature's most impressive hunters and all things cold!
  • Learn ways to reduce your carbon footprint, play the Polar Plunge game, and touch skulls, claws, and fur.
  • Hang out with the zoo's polar bear mascot and check out a blubber glove to see how a layer of fat keeps the cold out!
  • Experiment with ice cream in the Kitchen Theater!
  • Explore states of matter in the Works Theater and see the effects of super-cold liquid nitrogen!

Monster Jam at CONSOL

Monster Jam opened at CONSOL Energy Center last night!

 The event will feature the first ever appearance in Pittsburgh of the newest Monster Truck – Zombie - along with fan favorite Monster Trucks including Grave Digger, Advance Auto Parts Grinder, Eradicator, Backdraft, Ice Cream Man, Razin’ Kane and the return of Monster Mutt to Pittsburgh. (Trucks subject to change without notice)
Approximately 12 feet tall and about 12 feet wide, monster trucks are custom-designed machines that sit atop 66-inch-tall tires and weigh a minimum of 10,000 pounds. Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, monster trucks generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Monster trucks can fly up to125 to 130 feet (a distance greater than 14 cars side by side) and up to 35 feet in the air.

My 4 yr. old son LOVES this show and I know a lot of other kids that attended opening night that had a great time! *I do recommend ear plugs or headphones for kids as it can be quite loud.

Kid-A-Palooza event + ticket giveaway!

Kid-A-Palooza is coming back to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center!
February 23, 2013
This year's activities include arts & crafts, a petting zoo, inflatable games, karaoke, cartoon camp, character appearances, sports & activity demonstrations and much more!

Kidapalooza Festival hours are Saturday, 10 AM - 6 PM
Admission is $9; kids between the ages of 3-11 are $6; children 2 and under are free!

This is a huge family-fun event, featuring Cartoon Camp, a Princess Pavillion, Indoor Fun Rides, Creative Corner and more. See Curious George and Mike the Knight too!
Showtimes are 11am, 1pm, & 4pm.
My family went last year and there was lots of fun activities for the kids, they loved the rides and there were tons of great (& healthy!) foods to try! Everything is included in the admission price. I recommend this fun family event!
